rubber band hairstyles

STEP 1: TOO TIGHTEN THE ELASTIC

Going too far with the elastic puts pressure on our rubber band hairstyles which, in the long run, can break it. Worse, this pressure is also exert on the hair follicles (the cavities in the skin where the hair takes root): it can sometimes lead to headaches, and even hair loss – especially if they are dry. or damaged.

Remember: When our rubber band is too stretch and begins to show signs of weakness, we throw it away immediately rather than making additional turns. We don’t want to cause pain or tension!

STEP 2: REMOVE THE ELASTIC AT A SINGLE TIME

Snatching the rubber band hairstyles from our head in one go is, shall we say, not the best idea… We risk tearing out a considerable amount of hair at the same time, and causing serious damage to our mane.

Remember:  Even if we can’t wait to undo our hairstyle after a long day, we take the time to loosen the elastic one turn at a time. These few extra seconds will save our hair a lot of pain!

STEP 3: USE ELASTIC BANDS WITH METAL

We have all experienced this moment: our hair gets tang around our elastic and we have to spend long minutes trying to remove it (unless we resign ourselves to cutting it!).

The culprit is often the metal portion that some rubber bands have: it tends to get stuck in the hair, damaging it or creating split ends. Another enemy? the rubber, which sticks to the hair fiber, tangles and promotes breakage. Let it be said: even if you have nothing else on hand and the temptation is strong, you never use one of our “office” rubber bands to improvise a bun.

Remember: We prefer fabric elastics, which are much softer, or we put on accessories such as scrunchies, headbands and barrettes. They are all popular at the moment: we are spoil for choice!

STEP 4: ATTACH WET HAIR

There are mornings when you might be tempt to grab a rubber band when you get out of the shower and do your hair in no time. But beware! Humidity makes hair softer and more brittle – therefore more susceptible to breakage. As a bonus, wet hair gets tangle much more easily around an elastic…

Remember: It’s best to give your hair a quick blow-dry or air-dry your hair before tying it up. If you have time to apply a nourishing leave-in treatment, it’s even better!

STEP 5: ALWAYS WEAR THE SAME HAIRSTYLE

Styling our hair the same way every day means that the elastic constantly attacks the same part of our hair. However, we know: when they are under pressure, the hair becomes more brittle…

Remember: The ideal is to set up a “bank” of three or four hairstyles of different heights, which can be worn alternately: a high bun, a half – bun , a low ponytail, a braid… The options simple and fast are not lacking.
