With colder weather and shorter days, October is the perfect time to curl up on your couch and have a movie marathon. Whether you’re looking for classic horror movies, scary kids movies, or cartoons to watch with the family, here are seven Halloween movies to watch on repeat.

The Addams Family (1991, 2019)

They’re creepy, and they’re crazy, mysterious, and scary—so go the opening theme song to one of the most beloved Halloween movies of all time. Released in 1991, the original Addams Family film is a dark comedy starring Angelica Huston as the icy matriarch, mother of a macabre brood living in a gothic mansion. Want to watch this movie with your little ones? In 2019, The Addams Family was remained in an adapted format with an animated film that bears the same name.

Goosebumps 2: Ghosts of Halloween (2018)

Jack Black stars in this spooky children’s film, based on RL Stine’s young adult horror book series. A sequel to the movie Goosebumps, Goosebumps 2 features two young protagonists who come across an unpublished manuscript of Goosebumps and unexpectedly bring to life a troupe of creepy monsters who begin to terrorize their small town.

Hotel Transylvania (2012)

This cute and quirky cartoon tells the story of Count Dracula, an ambitious vampire hotelier who oversees a “human-free” resort where monsters can relax and take a break from the rest of civilization.Great for kids and adults alike, this animated film stars Saturday Night Live alumni including Adam Chandler, Andy Sam berg, David Spade, Molly Shannon and Jon Levitt.

Betelgeuse (1988)

This legendary fantasy film from Tim Burton boasts a hugely popular star-studded cast that includes Winona Ryder, Alec Baldwin, Gene Davis, and Michael Keaton as title character Betelgeuse. This stylized horror flick blends live-action and animation to tell the bizarre tale of two recently deceased suburban newlyweds who teeter between the afterlife and their old home, where they haunt the new occupants.

Become one of cinema’s iconic villains, Michael Myers first appeared on screen in 1978, in the movie Halloween, as a serial killer who escapes from an asylum to track down a babysitter from a small town, wearing a creepy hockey mask. The Halloween saga has 11 films to date – with original scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis reprising her role 40 years later in the 2018 adaptation.

Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)

A musical that’s definitely not for kids (don’t let the PG rating mislead you), the Rocky Horror Picture Show debuted in 1975 and has become cult worldwide. Part horror, part comedy, the story follows the all-good couple of Brad and Janet as they find refuge one rainy night in a mysterious castle filled with strange characters, including the eccentric owner, Dr. Frank-N-Further, played by Tim Curry dressed as a glam-rock drag.

Psychosis (1960)

It wouldn’t be a classic horror movie marathon without Alfred Hitchcock. Widely considered to be one of Hitchcock’s masterpieces, Psycho is a psychological thriller that elevated the horror film with its shrill musical score, cinematic achievement, and horrifying scene. The shower. Star Janet Leigh received an Oscar for her performance as the woman on the run who shows up at the bizarre Bates Motel to spend the night only to suffer horrific consequences.
